Software Engineer Visa Route

Eligibility requirements

• 1Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field
• 2Minimum CLB 7 in all four abilities (reading, writing, listening, speaking)
• 3Minimum 1 year of continuous full-time skilled work experience in the past 10 years
• 4Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) if degree is from outside Canada
• 5Sufficient settlement funds
• 6Admissibility: no serious criminal record, medically admissible

Document checklist

• Valid passport
• IELTS or CELPIP test results
• ECA from World Education Services (WES) or another designated body
• Reference letters from employers (job title, hours, duties, salary)
• Police clearance certificates from each country lived in 6+ months
• Medical exam results
• Proof of settlement funds
• Completed IMM forms and digital photos

Step-by-step process

   Complete IELTS/CELPIP to achieve CLB 7 or higher

2. 2

   Obtain an ECA from WES for your degree

3. 3

   Enter your details in the Express Entry system and receive a CRS score

4. 4

   Receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) — tech draws have targeted NOC 21xxx codes

5. 5

   Submit your PR application online within 60 days of ITA

6. 6

   Complete biometrics and medical exam

7. 7

   Receive Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) and activate PR status
